What is your major?

Biological Sciences

Are there any extracurricular activities or organizations that have been instrumental in connecting you with like-minded women in the biological sciences at UCI?

The Patient Project at UCI has been my foundation for meeting with like-minded women in biological sciences here at UCI. Our entire executive board is composed of strong, driven, and confident women who are passionate about making their community a better place. Not only have these women pushed me to become the best version of myself, but also have inspired me through their continual commitment to care for others. I am so proud to have met these women and am excited to continue collaborating with them!

Are there female professors, researchers, staff or students at UCI who have played a key role in your academic journey, and how have they influenced your aspirations?

I am inspired by all of the female professors and researchers I have met throughout my time here at UCI; they have critically shaped who I am today. They have played a pivotal role in supporting my goal to become a physician and have been models of kindness and compassion. Whether I am in office hours or attending a lecture, their commitment to helping me grow and succeed has always been visible. Their passion to help others fuels me to reach for my dream of helping others as a physician.

Any advice for future BioSci students?

Always continue learning and be resilient. Pursuing a degree as a Biological Sciences major is not easy; there will be challenges and hurdles that you will face in your academic journey. However, take each challenge with grace and remember that each hurdle you face is an opportunity to learn and grow. Oftentimes, our biggest changes of character happen when we rise up to the challenge.

Why did you choose BioSci?

I chose BioSci because it provides the opportunity for me to gain a better understanding of the world around me through the lens of science. It allows me to learn about topics that I am passionate about while also connecting me to a community of individuals who have similar goals and aspirations as I do. I am so grateful to be a part of the BioSci community!
